About CodeYetu
We focus on teaching children from marginalized communities how to code
Who We Are
CodeYetu is a community-based organization founded in July
2018.
What We Do
We teach children in children’s homes how to code. We believe that each child, given an equal or some level of opportunity, can not only utilize their potential but is also able to see the possibilities of what their lives could become.
We teach code using various approaches such as gaming, making art, web development, app development, and robotics to kids aged between 6 and 18 years.
We also conduct online coding classes at a fee for well-abled students. The pooled funds are then donated to the two children’s we actively engage with, to support the kids’ education and well-being.
Why We Do It
Back Story:)
During one of her charity visits, our founder got a strong conviction that there was more she could do to help the community of abandoned and orphaned kids she had just interacted with.
With her purpose clear, she embarked on a mission to recruit her close friends, at times, who have then become trainers as the years have rolled on.
Since 2018, every Saturday morning, these trainers and volunteers come together, to teach and spend time with the children.
To us, one of the key factors for success-beyond work, talent, timing
and relationships -is the glue that holds all of these together:
commitment.
We put our best foot forward when it comes to these children and it
is our hope that our commitment correspondingly seeps into their
lives.
What We Do?
We tend to make our world a safer place for Children
Robots are quickly replacing manual, repetitive human tasks, they represent the future of work in the 4IR. We offer robotics classes where students get to design and create robots simulating solutions to real world problems.
Research shows that 91% of kids between ages 2 to 17 years play video games in one form or another. We aim to teach our students to be creators, innovators and help them create games simulating their own environment.
